Recipe Page Design
THE BACKGROUND
i wanted to create a recipe app to share with my friends and family for the holidays. I figured, with my newly honed UX/UI skills, I could take the recipe book I made last year
and translate it into an app with all its recipes plus more! I also wanted to lay the ground for making the recipe app a social thing between friends and family.

THE SOLUTION
Create a recipe app that cuts the unnecessary information from the recipe and that friends and family can use amongst themselves to share and record recipes.
I was hoping to use Bravo Studio to make it an actual app in the app store, however, with the limited timeline I had, I had to settle for using the prototyping feature on Figma.
THE CHALLENGE
I didn't want to format the recipes like a typical food blog post where they write a long story at the beginning. That's so annoying! Instead, I wanted to focus on making it easier to record recipes by only having the essential pieces of information: A short blurb on why you should could this dish, total cook & prep time, the ingredients, and the directions.
The main challenge was to create an MVP to send off on Christmas Eve. I had approximately 7 days to create something I would be proud to send. I also wanted to make it holiday-themed, but still neutral enough to reuse some elements in the non-holiday version I plan to do in the future.

THE PROCESS
Discover
What is the most important thing my friends and family care about when following and keeping a recipe?
Define
What issues should this app tackle? Who will be using this app extensively?
Ideate
What features should this app have? What kind of content should I feature in this version? How should the information be presented?
Prototype/Test
Dove right into hi-fi designs after a brief sketch session. I used the Figma Share Prototype feature to share the prototype with my friends and family.
THE OUTCOME
Although I didn't have a formal way to measure success with this project, I observed my friends and family's reactions and responses to measure how they received the app. The reception I got for the app from my friends and family was spectacular! Here are a few testimonials:
"This is such a cool idea! Thanks:)"
-Emma
"Love! Oxtail and tripe sound so good rn!"
-Kara
"Nice way to keep family recipes online! Keep up the great work. Will this app be downloadable in the near future? Let's hope so! Thanks for sharing! 🙏"
